Actor Yamashita Tomohisa from "Drops of God" the series appeared on stage with his co-star, Fleur Geoffrier who plays as Camille, and director Oded Raskin on the main stage at the "Tokyo Comic Convention 2024 (Tokyo Comic Con 2024) at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture on the 7th December 2024. He also made a surprise appearance with the trophy for the Best Drama at the 52nd International Emmy Awards, first time in Japan after the series won the prize.
The live-action adaptation of a bit hit Japanese manga "Drops of God," which sparked the trend of wine boomed in Japan, switched a male character from the original manga, Kamisaki Shizuku, to a French woman named Camille, and a new protagonist, a wine critic "Tomine Issei", played by Tomihisa Yamashita. Telling the story around Issei, a student of world-renowned wine authority Alexandre Léger and his only daughter Camille, a man and woman whose fate is at the mercy of wine, as they take on a wine test competition across borders to win the inheritance of the "world's largest wine collection" by Alexandre Léger worth total 16 billion yen.
When asked what made him decide to take on the role, Tomihisa Yamashita or Yama P told that he accepted the role because he "really wanted to do it."
"I think, if i appearing in this production, I can learn a lot as a person, so I'm very happy to be involved in this work, I think it would be a good opportunity to take a good look at a person, such as their deepest emotions and upbringing, and I wanted to know more about his life."
This Japanese-French-American co-production seies also won the 52nd International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. When they start talking about this, director Raskin turned to open his bag which is laid on the stage and surprisingly show the award trophy. Yamashita and Fleur were so surprised.
The "Drops of God season 2" has been confirmed and it's set to be exclusively distributed on Hulu in 2025. Director Raskin continually mention
"I can't say much about Drops of God season 2, but we are actually filming until 5am this morning. Yamashita has been here all day, I think he has incredible body and mental strength. In season 2, Hitsune and Camille will go to new places and discover themselves each other from both the outside and the inside."
