Thailand Pavilion is officially opened in Expo 2025

Ministry of Public Health, through the Department of Health Service Support, officially opened the Thailand Pavilion at EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN. 

The ceremony was presided by Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, along with Mr. Wichu Vejjajiva, Royal Thai Ambassador in Tokyo; Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health; Dr. Panuwat Panket, Commissioner-General of Thailand for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai; Mr. Hirofumi Yoshimura, Prefectural Governor of Osaka, JAPAN; Mr. TOKURA Masakazu and Mr. ISHIGE Hiroyuki, Senior Executive Board Members of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition; Mr. Akarapong Chalermnon, Consul-General in Osaka; Mr. Chai Wachirong, Thai Trade Representative; and representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Representatives from the Ministry of Public Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan and senior executives from Thai government agencies honored the event.

The ceremony began with the bathing ceremony for the Buddha image to bring good fortune and also preserve Thai culture in Song Kran Festival. Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, presided over the ceremony, along with senior Thai executives and guests from various countries.

The official opening ceremony began by putting a celestial urn into a medicinal pot, symbolizing Thailand's position as a global health center. A special performance for the opening ceremony "The Rising Sun, Resonates Throughout the Land, Maha Songkran," was  performed, inspired by the Songkran festival, recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage site.

Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, stated, “Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is a grand and important global platform to propel Thailand towards becoming a Medical & Wellness Hub, a global health center. This is due to Thailand's readiness and potential to meet the medical and public health needs of people from around the world. This is achieved through Thailand's seven strengths:

1. World-class tourist attractions
2. International-standard medical facilities
3. Knowledgeable and experienced doctors and staff
4. Reasonable and cost-effective medical treatment rates
5. Well-prepared and service-minded personnel
6. Thailand boasts comprehensive modern facilities
7. Thailand's prominence in traditional Thai medicine and alternative medicine.


On this occasion, Thailand government has assigned the Ministry of Public Health, through the Department of Health Service Support, to host the event, along with the high-potential public and private sector partners, presents a valuable opportunity for Thailand to expand its investment in health and public health, and showcase its Thai identity to the global community. Hopefully Thailand Pavilion attract visitors and establish Thailand as a global health destination.
