Thai film and drama industry brought Thai entertainment in global markets and celebrated its success in FILMART 2025

Department of International Trade Promotion from Thailand (DITP) showcased its successful trade with Thai entertainment entrepreneurs who participated in FILMART 2025 in Hong Kong and received more 2,292 million baht in total revenue. 

The participated companies revealed that they achieved positive results, including collaboration with several Chinese series producers to film in Thailand, selling film's rights and also making post-production technical agreements with world-class producers.


Ms. Sunantha Kangwalakulkij, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce,  revealed the results after brought the entrepreneurs in Thai entertainment industry to participate in Hong Kong International Film & TV Market 2025 (FILMART) which is held between March 17-20, 2025.

She talked about the participation in the event this year, DITP has joined forces with Ministry of Culture, the Department of Tourism, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, along with the The National Soft Power Strategy Committee in Film, Documentary, and Animation Industry, brought 37 Thai entrepreneurs to participate in trade negotiations, earned more 2,292 million baht in total revenue, re-affirming the potential of the Thai film and series industry that gain attentions in global stage.

The success of FILMART 2025 in Hong Kong has created tangible business opportunities and international cooperation, such as Retina Film Productions Co., Ltd., which has received attention from Chinese series producers with production budget over 170 million baht and plans to film in Thailand, reflected Thailand's potential as a recognized filming locations.

GDH 559 Co., Ltd. has collaborated with Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP) from Hong Kong for the rights of Thai films including Paradise of Thorns (วิมานหนาม), Flat Girl, and Marry My Dead Body (Thailand version, ซองแดงแต่งผี) for distribution in  Hong Kong and Macau market.

Kantana Post Production (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has successfully closed deals on 3 projects for 2025 with companies from Malaysia and Cambodia, and has received interest from Taiwanese companies to work on VFX and animation.

Kantana Sound Studio Co., Ltd. was honored by WOWing Entertainment Group Taiwan to join the screening of the film "96 Minutes" at FILMART 2025. It was an important opportunity to participate in sound work with a talented director Tzu-Hsuan Hung, who previously worked on the film The Scoundrels and was nominated for Best Sound Effects at the Golden Horse Awards 2019 in Taiwan.

“Participating in FILMART 2025 is another important step for the Thai entertainment industry, demonstrating its potential and ability to expand opportunities to the global market. DITP and our partners will continue to support the development of the Thai entertainment business to grow and push the country to become the center of the content industry in the ASEAN region, creating economic opportunities, increasing export value, and stimulating domestic employment to grow stronger,” Sunantha said.

FILMART is one of the biggest entertainment markets in Asia, with more 760 exhibitors and 7,500 attendees from 50 countries, including producers, distributors, sales agents, service providers and investors who looking for new business opportunities. There were 37 Thai exhibitors, divided into 4 major groups: 15 film and animation producers and distributors, 6 film and video service providers, 6 TV series and program producers and distributors and 10 Content Y (Boys Love and Girls Love) companies such as Waga Creative, Star Hunter Entertainment, 9Naa, GMMTV and more.
