Osaka Asian Film Festival EXPO 2025 - OAFF 2026 (Aug 29 - Sep 7) closes with the World Premiere of Singaporean Drama "A Good Child" (好孩子)
The Closing Film of the festival is the World Premiere of A Good Child, a Singaporean drama comedy from director ONG Kuo Sin that pairs rising talent Richie KOH and veteran HONG Hui Fang as an absent gay son returning to his ageing mother after her dementia diagnosis.
Adapted from the life story of local drag artist Sammi ZHENG, whom ONG met while researching his Golden Horse-winning musical comedy Number 1 (2020), this handsomely-lensed film shines due to Richie KOH’s bold and sassy performance as a drag queen, which presents a chance for ONG to use flamboyant visuals and whip-smart verbal comedy. The film is just as much a sincere family drama that smoothly intertwines the struggles of caring for someone with dementia and finding one’s identity and place in a family as a character estranged from them ever since he came out of the closet, finally comes home to become the good child his mother needs in an unconventional way.
The Closing Film will be screened on September 7 at the OAFF Main Venue, ABC Hall, Osaka.

ดัดแปลงจากเรื่องราวชีวิตจริงของแซมมี่ เจิ้ง ศิลปินแดร็กชาวฮ่องกง ตัวผู้กำกับได้พบเธอระหว่างค้นคว้าหาข้อมูลทำละครเพลงแนวตลกเรื่อง Number 1 ซึ่งคว้ารางวัลม้าทองคำด้วย
A Good Child ถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวได้ซึ้งกินใจ สะกดอารมณ์ผู้ชมได้อยู่หมัดจากฝีมือการแสดงของริชชี่ โคห์ ในบทแดร็กควีน เปิดทางให้ผู้กำกับอัดภาพที่ดูหรูหราฟู่ฟ่าและมุกตลกโดนๆ ได้อย่างลงตัว กับหนังแนวดราม่าชีวิตครอบครัว เรื่องราวการดิ้นรนสู้ชีวิตของ LGBTQ ที่ต้องดูแลแม่ที่หลงๆ ลืมๆ การค้นหาตัวตน รวมทั้งสถานะของตัวเองในบ้านที่ดูเหินห่างหลังเผยตัวตน การกลับบ้านเพื่อทำในสิ่งที่ลูกควรทำ
