On 8th October 2024, Mariko Shinoda, a former AKB48 member dresses in Kimono while receiving the KIMONO-IST AWARDS 2024 at Kaumigaseki district in Tokyo. The reason she received the prize is, Mariko Shinoda continuely participates in various activities, follows the goals she set by herself one by one and transformed the sense of accomplishment and joyfulness through her positive energies. Her image shines as an ideal woman "soft but strong-willed woman." She would definitely add Kimono tradition through her iconic image from now on.
"I'm truly happy to wearing a kimono that was designed and made by Jotaro Saito. I hope, I'll do my efforts to become a strong woman who never give up any obstacles and live up with the kimono. The roses is painted delicately in deep colors for today's Kimono, i think, it had a sense of mature and added lovely atmosphere, like the flower still blooming, even though it's a bit modern.
The yellow accent on the sash (Obi-jime) is rarely seen in kimono colors' combination, so I think , it's truly impressive work by Jotaro Saito. Usually I don't have many opportunities to wear kimonos, but I think it's really interesting to combine them in various ways, just like Western clothes"
The others who received KIMONO-IST AWARDS 2024 are, actor Keita Machida, Figure Skater Daisuke Takahashi, actress Akane Hotta, Yoko Moriguchi, and Rino Katase. All appeared in stylish kimono which is coordinated by Jotaro Saito, general stylist of the Kimonoist Executive Committee.

The title "KIMONO-IST" is given to persons who can propose the new ways of living and happiness life in the new era, incorporating the new and evolving "Japanese traditions and culture" into their lifestyle.
This award will be given to those who would like to wear Kimono and evolving the Kimono culture for the future. The award will be selected by the executive committee through a stylist who will suggest the kimono in the future and promote kimono as the latest style and fashion, and it isn't limited only those who like kimono or who look good in kimono.

“ดิฉันมีความสุขจริงๆ ที่ได้สวมกิโมโนที่รังสรรค์โดยโจทาโร่ ไซโตะ ฉันจะพยายามอย่างเต็มที่เพื่อเป็นผู้หญิงที่เข้มแข็ง ไม่ย่อท้อต่ออุปสรรคใดๆ ใช้ชีวิตไปด้วยกันกับชุดกิโมโน สำหรับชุดกิโมโนวันนี้ ดอกกุหลาบถูกย้อมอย่างประณีต ออกโทนสีเข้ม ให้ความรู้สึกเป็นผู้ใหญ่ ดูน่ารัก เหมือนกับดอกไม้ที่ยังคงเบ่งบาน ถึงจะดูทันสมัยไปสักหน่อยก็ตาม
สีเหลืองของเชือกบนผ้าโอบิ(โอบิจิเมะ) ก็ดูแปลกตา ไม่ค่อยเห็นกันในการผสมสีชุดกิโมโน ดิฉันคิดว่ามันเป็นผลงานที่น่าประทับใจของโจทาโร่ ไซโตะจริงๆ ค่ะ ปกติแล้ว ดิฉันไม่ค่อยมีโอกาสได้สวมชุดกิโมโนบ่อยนัก แต่คิดว่าการนำชุดกิโมโนมาผสมผสานกันด้วยวิธีต่างๆ แบบเดียวกับเสื้อผ้าแบบตะวันตก มันเป็นอะไรที่น่าสนใจจริงๆ ค่ะ"
