Tetsuya Bessho and LiLiCo kicked off the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) 2026 award ceremony, with an unforgettable red carpet showing in Shibuya district.

Festival President Tetsuya Bessho and Festival Ambassador LiLiCo marking its 28th brilliant year, the  Academy Award®-accredited festival chose the Line Cube Shibuya for its star-studded roll-out.

While Bessho exuded effortlessly sharp elegance, it was LiLiCo who completely stole the spotlight with an incredible fashion choices, a stunning, cross-cultural custom kimono.

Exemplifying the festival’s global spirit, LiLiCo hit the red carpet wearing a crafted kimono tailored completely in Thailand, paired elegantly with a traditional Obi sash gifted by her husband’s mother.

Kurumi Nakata in KIMONO-IST AWARD 2025

One of the stars who stole the spotlight in banquet reception at the KIMONOIST AWARDS 2025, Japanese actress Kurumi Nakata in her traditional Kimono combined with a modern chic accessories. 

Kurumi is also known as the wife of Asano Tadanobu (47 Ronin, Shogun, Morte Cucina) and starring in many hit series (Kei×Yaku: Dangerous Partners, Netflix's Alice in Borderland, Nagi's Long Vacation, Brush Up Life, Fake Mommy).

Japanese singer Maki Ohguro in the KIMONO-IST 2025

Japanese artist Maki Ohguro won the KIMONO-IST 2025. She looks gorgeous in a silk Kimono while wearing a stylish sunglasses at the award ceremony.

"I'm currently in the middle of Japan tour, I'm honoured to be invited for this wonderful opportunity. I've had a long relationship with Jotaro Saito who helped me for my costumes in live shows. He designed this kimono,  the combination of strength and delicacy, like a rock star who playing the Japanese drums.

A kimono is tailored by delicate threads and layered up by an artisan's hands, similar to create a music. I also feel today's style has a theme about "co-existence of delicacy and boldness". I'd like to continue to express myself in my own way through my songs and fashion,"

Maki Ohguro's songs are always filled with straightforward passion and messages. Her lifestyle which evolves alongside her music, is a symbol of the "supple strength" and match with kimono culture.

The Kimono made for Maki is a one-of-a-kind kimono made from "Tsumugi fabric (紬)" with tornado-shaped tie-dye (Tatsumaki Shibori - 竜巻絞り) pattern. The bold color scheme features gradations of blue, purple and pink, paired with a deep burgundy sash (Obi) that incorporating the European design. It's a style that combine the rock essence with Japanese traditional beauty.

สำหรับชุดกิโมโนที่คุณมากิสวมวันนี้ ทอด้วยเทคนิคโบราณแบบหนึ่งของญี่ปุ่น ทำจาก "ผ้าสึมุกิ" หรือผ้าไหมทอมือแบบดั้งเดิมของญี่ปุ่นที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะตัว พิมพ์ลายมัดย้อมแบบ "ทัตสึมากิ ชิโบริ" ที่มีลักษณะลายเหมือนพายุทอร์นาโดหรือมังกรทะยานฟ้า สื่อถึงความโชคดี สัญลักษณ์มงคลของญี่ปุ่น

Chika Edanami won the KIMONO-IST AWARD 2025

The six Japanese celebrities who were announced for the "KIMONO-IST 2025" award winners this autumn; Akiko Nishina (actor), Katsunori Takahashi (actor), Maki Ohguro (singer), Erika Karata (actor), Neru Nagahama (actor) and Chika Edanami (violinist).

Violinist Chika Edanami, one of the winners this year said after received the grand prize.

"I'm truly honored to receive such a wonderful award. When I first saw this kimono, the words that came to my mind is 'dignity and passion'.

Classical music and the world of Japanese are both traditional arts. I feel a new energy through this kimono. I would like to pass on the music and arts to the future, transcending the genres"

Her look is styling by Kimono designer Jotaro Saito, unified in monochrome by the shade of black ink on the white background, combine the elegance and tranquility of the Kyogen actor.

Reason for the Award: Chika Edanami is known as artist in the world of classical violin. Her attitude and passion is conveying emotion through music, including her spirit of "Preserving tradition while challenging new forms of expression" is something that resonated with the Kimono culture.

สำหรับลุ้คของเธอในครั้งนี้จัดโดย "โจทาโร่ ไซโตะ" นักออกแบบชุดกิโมโน เจ้าของแบรนด์ JOTARO SAITO ถ่ายทอดความงามให้ดูกลมกลืนเป็นหนึ่งเดียวด้วยลายเส้นหมึกสีดำ ผสานความสง่างามและความนิ่งสงบในแบบนักแสดง "เคียวเง็น" หนึ่งในการแสดงละครโบราณของญี่ปุ่น

เหตุผลที่เธอได้รับเลือกให้เป็นผู้ชนะในปีนี้ เพราะเธอเป็นนักเล่นไวโอลินที่เปี่ยมด้วยทัศนคติ มุ่งมั่นถ่ายทอดอารมณ์ความรู้สึกผ่านงานดนตรี และมีจิตวิญญาณ "อนุรักษ์ประเพณีควบคู่ไปกับความท้าทายใหม่ๆ ในการแสดง" ที่สะท้อนให้เห็นวัฒนธรรมการแต่งชุดกิโมโน
