Comments from Takiuchi Kumi

I am honored to serve as a festival navigator for this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival. I never imagined I would have the opportunity to participate in this festival, which holds such a special place in my heart, in such a role, and I am truly delighted. I’m excited to undertake this new challenge and will do my utmost to fulfill my role. TIFF continues to evolve and is introducing new projects this year as well. I hope many of you will join us and share in the magic of cinema together.

Takiuchi made her film debut in 2012, and has appeared in numerous films and TV series. She played her first leading role in Greatful Dead (2014), directed by Uchida Eiji. She has starred in Twisted Justice (2016), Side Job (2017) and Underdog (2020). She won the Best Newcomer  at the 41st Yokohama Film Festival and the Kinpema Junpo Best Actress Award for the 2019 film It Feels So Good, followed by wins for Best Actress at the 31st Japan Movie Critics Awards and the 31st Japanese Professional Movie Awards for A Balance (2020). Her outstanding performance in the latter film also earned her international acclaim. Takiuchi went on to appear in Teki Cometh (2023), Ravens (2024), Kokuho (2025), How Dare You? (2025), and Hero’s Island (2025).
