To celebrate 150th anniversary this year, Ginza-born Shiseido launches new limited holiday gift set under the theme "Folded With Love", inspired by the beauty of "ORIGAMI", a Japanese traditional paper folding art.

Shiseido was born in Tokyo's Ginza district as the first private Western-style pharmacy in 1872, a time when herbal medicine was the norm. Found by Arinobu Fukuhara, a chief pharmacist in a navy hospital. The origin of the name Shiseido is inspired by Oriental philosophy, comes from a classic Chinese text, the “Yi Jing” (Book of Changes), which reads, “Praise the virtues of the great Earth, which nurtures new life and brings forth new values.”

ชิเซโด้ เป็นร้านขายยาแบบตะวันตกแห่งแรกที่ดำเนินการโดยเภสัชกร เปิดทำการตั้งแต่ปี 1872 ที่ย่านกินซ่า ในยุคที่คนญี่ปุ่นส่วนใหญ่ยังใช้ยาสมุนไพรรักษาโรค ก่อตั้งโดย "อาริโนบุ ฟุกุฮาร่า" หัวหน้าเภสัชกรจากโรงพยาบาลทหารเรือ ชื่อแบรนด์ "ชิเซโด้" ยังได้แรงบันดาลใจจากปรัชญาตะวันออก จากตำราจีนโบราณ "อี้จิง" (ศาสตร์แห่งการเปลี่ยนแปลงเพื่อความสำเร็จ) ที่กล่าวว่า “จงสรรเสริญคุณความดีของสรรพสิ่งบนโลกกว้างที่คอยบำรุงหล่อเลี้ยงชีวิตใหม่ และจงนำเอาคุณค่าใหม่นั้นออกมา”
