Renowned Japanese actor Takumi Saitoh officially kicked off the Academy Award-accredited Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2026 (SSFF & Asia 2026) on May 25th, at the newly opened MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives, Tokyo.
Stepping into the spotlight as a producer, Saitoh graces the Red Carpet along with director and lead actors to premier his latest film, "Ramen Maro: Where Our Paths Crossed" (私たちが麺処まろに通うまでに至った件/ Watashi-tachi ga Mensho Maro ni kayoū made itatta Kudari).
During the opening ceremony, Saitoh sparked an insightful conversation distinguishing the cinematic artistry of short films from fleeting social media short videos, emphasizing that true cinema leaves a lasting taste in the viewer's soul.
The inspiration for the project traces back to the height of the pandemic,when actor Hiroshi Asahina temporarily stepped away from his acting career to run his ramen restaurant, "Mendokoro Maro" and Saitoh paid a visit.
"I feel the future of short films when the film is released. People want to eat ramen after watching a ramen film, they can savor it through their eyes and hearts."

โปรเจกต์นี้มีเบื้องหลังที่อบอุ่น ย้อนกลับไปช่วงวิกฤตโควิด เมื่อ ฮิโรชิ อาซาฮินะ ดาราดังต้องพักงานแสดงแล้วหันไปเปิดร้านราเม็งของตัวเองในชื่อ "เมนโดโคโระ มาโร" ไซโตะได้แวะไปอุดหนุน จนเกิดแรงบันดาลใจนำมาสร้างหนัง
งานเทศกาลหนังสั้นระดับโลก SSFF & ASIA 2026 เริ่มแล้ว ตั้งแต่วันนี้ถึง 10 มิถุนายนในโรงภาพยนตร์ที่โตเกียว และสามารถรับชมผ่านช่องทางออนไลน์ได้จากประเทศต่างๆ ทั่วโลก จนถึงวันที่ 30 มิถุนายนนี้
