Glorious Ashes, a Vietnamese film make its world premiere in Tokyo

"Glorious Ashes", one of the great Vietnamese films this year, make its world premiere in Tokyo International Film Festival 2022, depicts the fisherman's living and three sisters' love from the southern part of Vietnam in various cultural aspects. 

The 4th film by director "Bui Thac Chuyen", who won the FIPRESCI Award at Venice, Italy with his debut from "Adrift" in 2009, is based on a short story by leading Vietnamese author "Nguyen Ngoc Tu" about three women living in a poor village in the Mekong delta in Southern Vietnam.

Hau (Bao Ngoc Doling) is like a servant for her husband. Nhan (Phuong Anh Dao) treats treat her husband like a child. Loan (Ngo Pham Hanh Thuy) lives with a man who raped her at age 12. Each of the three women tries in her own way to balance her relationship with her man and overcome her difficulties, unveiling the hardships of women living in a patriarchal society in Asia. Produced by Tran Tri Bich Ngoc, the producer of the "Third Lady" (2019).

Starring by Le Cong Hoang (as Duong), Juliet Bao Ngoc Doling (as Hau), Phuong Anh Dao (as Nhan), Ngo Quang Tuan (as Tam), Ngo Pham Hanh Thuy (as Loan).

Since the film like Trần Anh Hùng's Cyclo and The Scent of Green Papaya, Tony Bui's Three Seasons, Director Bui Thac Chuyen introduced Vietnamese tradition in another aspects with the sense of beauty, local charm as well as the feminine's roles in Asia.

"หัว" (จูเลียต บ่าว หง็อก โดลิง) มีชีวิตราวกับเป็นคนรับใช้ของสามี "นัน" (ฟอง อัน ดาว) ดูแลสามีของเธอราวกับลูก และ "หลวน" (เฮา ทวี้) อาศัยอยู่กับผู้ชายที่เคยข่มขืนเธอเมื่ออายุ 12 ปี ผู้หญิง 3 คนต่างพยายามดิ้นรนสู้ชีวิตในแบบของเธอ สร้างสมดุลย์ให้กับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างเธอกับสามีของเธอ และต่อสู้กับความลำบากยากจน เผยให้เห็นความสวยงามของชาวประมงในขนบท โลกทัศน์ของสังคม และบทบาทสตรีในเอเชีย อำนวยการสร้างโดย "ตรัง ตรี บิก หง็อก" (จาก Third Lady (2019)
