CINEMA FOR ALL at The Thailand Biennale 2023 in Chieng Rai, Thailand

Closing the 1st part: In The Classroom Screening, a renowned Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, Tropical Malady, Memoria) with British actress Tilda Swinton , a Chanal Global.brand ambassador attended CINEMA FOR ALL at The Thailand Biennale 2023 in Ban Mae ma school, Chieng Rai province on 8 January 2024.

Many rare films from Thailand, Cambodia, Japan and France were curated by Josh Siegal, a film curator at The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York. A point of contact for cinema that is diverse, historical, emerging, and expanded in form, CINEMA FOR ALL, brings EXPANDED CINEMA closer to the public in Thailand and continues the vision of nurturing a new generation of artists and filmmakers.

The CINEMA FOR ALL PAVILION is a collateral pavilion of the Thailand Biennale is a collaboration with the Artistic Directors of the Thailand Biennale, Gridthiya Gaweewong and Rirkrit Tiravanija. The Pavilion will host screenings of archival and emerging films from around the world at Ban Mae Ma School from December 10th - February 29th, 2024, and thereafter at the Chiang Rai International Art Museum (CIAM) until April 30th, 2024.

The film program is free of charge for everyone. The Pavilion forms one component of the CINEMA FOR ALL project which will also include under its umbrella a special VR performance by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, CONVERSATION WITH THE SUN from January 25th - 29th as well as discussions and workshops hosted by Common Move.
