Renowned Vietnamese singer and songwriter "Dương Domic" stuns at the Music Awards Japan (MAJ) 2026 Red Carpet in Tokyo.

He secured a major global milestone when his viral hit "Mất Kết Nối" (Lost Connection) broke into the Top 30 of the Listeners' Choice: International Song category.

This nomination put a young V-pop star shares the hall of fame with global icons like Taylor Swift (The Fate of Ophelia), Lady Gaga (Abracadabra), BLACKPINK (Jump), SEVENTEEN (Thunder), Saja Boys & Andrew Choi (Soda Pop) at Music Awards Japan, the second-largest music market globally just only after US.

He spent three grueling years as an agency trainee under K-POP standard systems, mastering songwriting, dancing and vocal performance. He briefly stepped away and nearly abandoning his dream before a historic run on Vietnam's hit music survival show "Anh Trai Say Hi" and reshaped his destiny.

"MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026" Overview 

"MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026" (MAJ) is Japan's largest international music award, based on the concept of "Connecting with the world and illuminating the future of music." It aims to disseminate Japanese and other Asian music to the world, making Japanese music a culture that can be proudly presented globally, while also promoting the entry of overseas artists into the Japanese market. In 2025, five major organizations in the Japanese music industry (Japan Record Association, Japan Music Enterprises Association, Japan Music Producers Federation, Japan Music Publishers Association, and Japan Concert Promoters Association) transcended their boundaries and established this award as an opportunity to collaborate with the global music industry and pioneer the future of music.

At MAJ, the best works/artists in all 78 categories, including the 6 major categories, were determined by votes from 5,000 music industry professionals, including artists (excluding some categories). This year, the second annual awards ceremony was held on June 13th,2026 at various venues including TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO. The Grand Ceremony, which honored the major categories, was broadcasted live on NHK, the red carpet event held prior to the Grand Ceremony was broadcasted on NHK BS, and the Premiere Ceremony, which honored categories other than the major ones and was held at SGC Hall Ariake (Tokyo Dream Park), was broadcasted on TOKYO MX.

The Premiere Ceremony and Grand Ceremony were also streamed worldwide on YouTube (excluding some regions), a global project partner, and live on NTT Docomo's video streaming service Lemino, ABEMA, and radiko, which are also services of a gold partner. Furthermore, we also distribute short-form content on social media platforms such as Spotify, TikTok, X, and YouTube.

MAJ has established a total of 78 categories to celebrate diverse music cultures. The six main categories are "Best Song," "Best Artist," "Best New Artist," "Best Album," "Best Global Hit from Japan," and "Best Asian Song." Through MAJ, we aim to introduce Japanese and Asian music to the world.

YUTO TATSUMI HONORED WITH BEST ENKA/KAYOKYOKU NOMINATION AT MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026

Enka sensation Yuto Tatsumi (28) has officially secured a nomination for Best Enka/Kayokyoku Song at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026. Recognized for his hit single "Unmei no Natsu" (運命の夏, Summer of Destiny), he spoke to reporters in Tokyo at the press conference ahead of the award ceremony.

"When I found out I was nominated, at first I couldn't believe it" he said. "When I told my parents and grandparents, they were so happy. I feel like I've done something to show my gratitude."

As traditional Japanese genres experience a modern resurgence, he finds himself at the forefront of a cultural movement.

"So many people are supporting this song. I want to stand on stage with that gratitude in my heart. It's a very prestigious award, so I'm honored to have been nominated. I want to work hard so that I can continue to stand on stage in the future."

While enka is traditionally known for its emotional stillness and vocal control, he is ready to shatter expectations. When asked about his ambition in the future, he said "I want to dance intensely." 

He openly admitted his current limitations but revealed a vision for his live show. "I'm not good at dancing, but I want to wear a helmet on my head and spin around doing a headspin" he said with smile.

History in the Making: Hip-Hop Royalty Ignites the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK!

The MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 (#MAJ) officially kicked off its festival week with an explosive tribute to Japanese hip-hop history. 

On June 8, 2026, Zepp DiverCity (TOKYO) transformed into an arena for "THE SUCCESSOR MAJ HIP HOP TRIBUTE". Co-produced by Takagi Kan, Zeebra and YZERR, the opening night celebrated over 40 years of the culture.

The highly anticipated MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK SPECIAL LIVE: THE SUCCESSOR - MAJ HIP HOP TRIBUTE just dropped a massive lineup expansion. Joining the star-studded bill as live acts are PUNPEE, acclaimed for redefining Japanese rap with his signature lyrical wit and production style; Watson, the Tokushima-born phenomenal star whose meteoric rise recently culminated in a triumphant Nippon Budokan showcase; MaRI, a fiercely rising powerhouse dominating the next generation of female rap; and 3Li¥en, the fresh voice embodying raw and modern street sensibility.
