Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation: Bangkok ｜Together We Dare to Capture

Opening on August 29, the Bangkok edition focuses on the theme of “To Capture.” Celebrated two-time Hong Kong Film Awards winner for Best Cinematography "Anthony Pun" will be the spotlight guest. 

His directorial work "Cesium Fallout" will serve as one of the opening films, alongside "Papa", starring "Sean Lau", winner of Best Actor at the 18th Asian Film Awards. Producer "Amy Chin" and actor "Dylan So" will also attend. 

The Academy is partnering with House Samyan Cinema, presenting a curated lineup also including Montages of a Modern Motherhood, Fight For Tomorrow, Last Song For You, Four Trails, animated classic Princess Chang Ping (Part 1), and 4K restoration of Shanghai Blue. 

Actor Lo Chun Yip, AFA Youth Ambassador, will represent Montages of a Modern Motherhood. A Hong Kong–Thailand talent exchange forum will also take place, bringing together Lo Chun Yip, Dylan So, Thai actor "Mean" Phiravich and "Top" Todsapol .

They will discuss performance craft and on-set collaboration, echoing the spirit of “Together We Dare to Share.”

ทางคณะกรรมการผู้จัดประกาศร่วมมือกับ "โรงภาพยนตร์เฮ้าส์ สามย่าน" นำเสนอภาพยนตร์ฮ่องกงที่คัดสรรมาเป็นพิเศษ อาทิ Montages of a Modern Motherhood, Fight For Tomorrow, Last Song For You, Four Trails, หนังแอนิเมชัน "องค์หญิงฉางผิง ภาค 1" และ Shanghai Blue เวอร์ชั่น 4K

"โล ชุน ยิป" นักแสดงชาวฮ่องกงจะเป็นตัวแทนหนัง เรื่อง Montages of a Modern Motherhood ยังมีเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างไทย-ฮ่องกง มีนักแสดงชาวไทย "มีน" พีรวิชญ์ และ "ท็อป" ทศพลร่วมเสวนาด้วย

"Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” in Dubai

The 18th Asian Film Awards concluded successfully on March 16, followed closely by the “Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” in Dubai from March 22 to 28, 2025.

Organised by the Asian Film Awards Academy, the event aims to promote Hong Kong cinema and filmmakers across Asia. This year, the first stop is Dubai, featuring three outstanding filmmakers: director Oliver Siu Kuen CHAN of “Montages of a Modern Motherhood”, director Thomas LEE of “An Abandoned Man” and actress Sheena CHAN from “Blossoms Under Somewhere”. Film critic Patrick SUEN also joined the group. They were pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm of Dubai moviegoers and the large turnout of Hong Kong residents.

At the opening ceremony, Leo Poon, Deputy Director of HKETO in Dubai, and Khalid Al Sabi, General Manager of Cinema Akil, delivered opening speeches, officially inaugurating the event.

The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation established the  strong relations and bring together film professionals from ASEAN countries and Hong Kong for an in-depth discussion on the art of cinema and collaboration. Since 2021, we have been to international cities such as Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Jakarta and so on.

หลังจบงานประกาศผลรางวัลสุดยอดภาพยนตร์เอเชีย หรือ Asian Film Awards ครั้งที่ 18 เมื่อวันที่ 16 มีนาคมที่ผ่านมา ก็ต่อด้วยงาน Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation ที่ดูไบ ระหว่างวันที่ 22 - 28 มีนาคม 2568 จัดโดย Asian Film Awards Academy มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อส่งเสริมภาพยนตร์ฮ่องกง รวมทั้งบุคลากรผู้สร้างภาพยนตร์ทั่วเอเชีย

จุดหมายแรกของปีนี้ คือ ดูไบ มีผู้สร้างหนังและนักแสดง 3 ท่านร่วมงาน ได้แก่ ผู้กำกับ "โอลิเวอร์ จาง" จาก Montages of a Modern Motherhood, ผู้กำกับ "โทมัส ลี" จาก An Abandoned Man, นักแสดง "ชีน่า จาง" จาก Blossoms Under Somewhere และนักวิจารณ์หนัง "แพททริค ซวน" สร้างความตื่นเต้นให้กับผู้ชมที่ดูไบและชาวฮ่องกงที่มาร่วมงานจำนวนมาก 

ในพิธีเปิด "ลีโอ พูน" รองผู้อำนวยการ HKETO ที่ดูไบ กับ "คาลิด อัลซาบิ" ผู้จัดการ Cinema Akil เป็นประธานกล่าวสุนทรพจน์ร่วมเปิดงานอย่างเป็นทางการ

สำหรับงาน Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation จัดขึ้นเพื่อสานสัมพันธ์และรวมผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านภาพยนตร์จากประเทศต่างๆ ในกลุ่ม ASEAN และฮ่องกง เริ่มครั้งแรกในปี 2021 ที่สิงคโปร์ กรุงเทพฯ กัวลาลัมเปอร์ พนมเปญ และจากาตาร์

Report: Thai Night in FILMART Hong Kong 2025

Following the Korean Wave's success, Thailand is actively pursuing a soft power strategy to enhance its global influence and competitiveness, particularly in the creative economy. This involves promoting Thai culture, Thai cuisine, Thai Fashion, Thailand Festivals and Thai entertainment to attract tourism industry and investment, similar to South Korea's approach but focus on Thai cultural elements, especially horror films and BL drama.

The gala celebration was held at JW Marriott in Hong Kong, celebrated the success of Thai film and entertainment on the global stage. The event highlighted Thailand's strong film industry, skilled filmmakers, and potential in the international market. It also served as a platform for networking and fostering collaborations between Thai and international industry leaders.

Naam Jutamas and Hana Aunyapat, the actress from a hit GF drama "B-friend" at the Hong Kong's FILMART 2025. B-Friend the Series is a Thai GL (Girl's Love) drama, also known as "B-Friend: Jettana (Mai) Luem" in Thai. It focuses on the story of "Lalin" who takes over the family business after her parents' passed away, and her encounters at her resort with "Dawan", a girl with amnesia, and Lan, an old friend. The series explore the development of their relationship and the unspoken feelings that arise in Khao Yai, one of the most popular resort towns in Thailand.

FILMART is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), successfully concluded in March 2025. The 2025 edition showcased a wide variety of cross-regional, cross-media and cross-industry content from over 760 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions.

The market gathered more than 7,600 industry practitioners from 42 countries and regions, highlighting the growing international presence that connects global industry players. Participants engaged in key sectors such as film and television production, distribution, sales representation, service provision, and investment, thereby enhancing opportunities for cross-border collaboration and strategic partnerships.

Hong Kong International Film Festival is coming this April

The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) unveiled the complete HKIFF49 programme at a star-studded media event during FILMART, showcasing nearly 200 films from 69 countries and regions.

Actress Angela YUEN as festival ambassador, Dr. Wilfred WONG (chairman of Hong Kong International Film Festival, Asian Film Awards Academy, FILMMART) and actor Louis KOO on the stage at the Press Conference for 49th Hong Kong International Film Festival. 

Festival ambassador Angela Yuen, Filmmaker in Focus Louis Koo, and various filmmakers and cast members were in attendance, including Malaysia's director Chong Keat-aun, Fish Liew, Natalie Hsu and Ben Yuen from "Pavane for an Infant"

Next is, Oliver Chan, Hedwig Tam and Siuyea Lo from "Montages of a Modern Motherhood" greet to all guests on the stage.

After the film make its world premiere in Tokyo last October, Director Jeffrey Lam, Antonio Tam with lead actors; George Au, Sheena Chan, and Summer Chan from "Valley of the Shadow of Death" bring the film to their home country.

Director Ricky Choy with Miney Ye from "Never Too Late" (早馬). Ricky is a director and producer based in Hong Kong. She is known internationally including her directed film for Phoenix TV's documentary series "Hong Kong Nature Stories".

HKIFF49 will feature more than 300 screenings, including six world premieres, two international premieres, and 52 Asian premieres. Renowned international filmmakers such as Leos Carax, Albert Serra, Juho Kuosmanen, and Ando Sakura will join the festival to present their works and interact with audiences personally.
