Louis Koo's "Behind the Shadows" will be premiered in Osaka Asian Film Festival - EXPO 2025

Osaka Asian Film Festival - EXPO 2025 start drom today until 7 September 2025.

The festival is proud to present the Louis KOO crime thriller "Behind the Shadows", the first title from the Malaysia arm of Louis KOO’s One Cool Group production company. Shot on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, the film pits a down-at-heel private investigator against a vicious serial killer targeting women.

It’s a game of cat and mouse and also a character study of people having to face betrayal in relationships with their partners. The film stars Louis KOO in a restrained role as a cynical PI and he is joined by Chrissie CHAU, Taiwanese actor LIU Kuan Ting (The Silent Forest), and Renci YEUNG (The First Girl I Loved, A Guilty Conscience). The film is a co-directorial work by Jonathan LI, who has many credits across a range of films such as Infernal Affairs III and The Silent War, and CHOU Man-yu, who is a writer by trade.

Osaka Asian Film Festival EXPO 2025 - OAFF 2026 will take place from August 29 to September 7 at venues in Osaka City, including ABC Hall, Theatre Umeda, T-Joy Umeda, Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka and Osaka City Central Public Hall.

Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation: Bangkok ｜Together We Dare to Capture

Opening on August 29, the Bangkok edition focuses on the theme of “To Capture.” Celebrated two-time Hong Kong Film Awards winner for Best Cinematography "Anthony Pun" will be the spotlight guest. 

His directorial work "Cesium Fallout" will serve as one of the opening films, alongside "Papa", starring "Sean Lau", winner of Best Actor at the 18th Asian Film Awards. Producer "Amy Chin" and actor "Dylan So" will also attend. 

The Academy is partnering with House Samyan Cinema, presenting a curated lineup also including Montages of a Modern Motherhood, Fight For Tomorrow, Last Song For You, Four Trails, animated classic Princess Chang Ping (Part 1), and 4K restoration of Shanghai Blue. 

Actor Lo Chun Yip, AFA Youth Ambassador, will represent Montages of a Modern Motherhood. A Hong Kong–Thailand talent exchange forum will also take place, bringing together Lo Chun Yip, Dylan So, Thai actor "Mean" Phiravich and "Top" Todsapol .

They will discuss performance craft and on-set collaboration, echoing the spirit of “Together We Dare to Share.”

"Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” in Dubai

The 18th Asian Film Awards concluded successfully on March 16, followed closely by the “Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” in Dubai from March 22 to 28, 2025.

Organised by the Asian Film Awards Academy, the event aims to promote Hong Kong cinema and filmmakers across Asia. This year, the first stop is Dubai, featuring three outstanding filmmakers: director Oliver Siu Kuen CHAN of “Montages of a Modern Motherhood”, director Thomas LEE of “An Abandoned Man” and actress Sheena CHAN from “Blossoms Under Somewhere”. Film critic Patrick SUEN also joined the group. They were pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm of Dubai moviegoers and the large turnout of Hong Kong residents.

At the opening ceremony, Leo Poon, Deputy Director of HKETO in Dubai, and Khalid Al Sabi, General Manager of Cinema Akil, delivered opening speeches, officially inaugurating the event.

The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation established the  strong relations and bring together film professionals from ASEAN countries and Hong Kong for an in-depth discussion on the art of cinema and collaboration. Since 2021, we have been to international cities such as Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Jakarta and so on.

หลังจบงานประกาศผลรางวัลสุดยอดภาพยนตร์เอเชีย หรือ Asian Film Awards ครั้งที่ 18 เมื่อวันที่ 16 มีนาคมที่ผ่านมา ก็ต่อด้วยงาน Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation ที่ดูไบ ระหว่างวันที่ 22 - 28 มีนาคม 2568 จัดโดย Asian Film Awards Academy มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อส่งเสริมภาพยนตร์ฮ่องกง รวมทั้งบุคลากรผู้สร้างภาพยนตร์ทั่วเอเชีย

จุดหมายแรกของปีนี้ คือ ดูไบ มีผู้สร้างหนังและนักแสดง 3 ท่านร่วมงาน ได้แก่ ผู้กำกับ "โอลิเวอร์ จาง" จาก Montages of a Modern Motherhood, ผู้กำกับ "โทมัส ลี" จาก An Abandoned Man, นักแสดง "ชีน่า จาง" จาก Blossoms Under Somewhere และนักวิจารณ์หนัง "แพททริค ซวน" สร้างความตื่นเต้นให้กับผู้ชมที่ดูไบและชาวฮ่องกงที่มาร่วมงานจำนวนมาก 

ในพิธีเปิด "ลีโอ พูน" รองผู้อำนวยการ HKETO ที่ดูไบ กับ "คาลิด อัลซาบิ" ผู้จัดการ Cinema Akil เป็นประธานกล่าวสุนทรพจน์ร่วมเปิดงานอย่างเป็นทางการ

สำหรับงาน Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation จัดขึ้นเพื่อสานสัมพันธ์และรวมผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านภาพยนตร์จากประเทศต่างๆ ในกลุ่ม ASEAN และฮ่องกง เริ่มครั้งแรกในปี 2021 ที่สิงคโปร์ กรุงเทพฯ กัวลาลัมเปอร์ พนมเปญ และจากาตาร์

Hong Kong International Film Festival is coming this April

The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) unveiled the complete HKIFF49 programme at a star-studded media event during FILMART, showcasing nearly 200 films from 69 countries and regions.

Actress Angela YUEN as festival ambassador, Dr. Wilfred WONG (chairman of Hong Kong International Film Festival, Asian Film Awards Academy, FILMMART) and actor Louis KOO on the stage at the Press Conference for 49th Hong Kong International Film Festival. 

Festival ambassador Angela Yuen, Filmmaker in Focus Louis Koo, and various filmmakers and cast members were in attendance, including Malaysia's director Chong Keat-aun, Fish Liew, Natalie Hsu and Ben Yuen from "Pavane for an Infant"

Next is, Oliver Chan, Hedwig Tam and Siuyea Lo from "Montages of a Modern Motherhood" greet to all guests on the stage.

After the film make its world premiere in Tokyo last October, Director Jeffrey Lam, Antonio Tam with lead actors; George Au, Sheena Chan, and Summer Chan from "Valley of the Shadow of Death" bring the film to their home country.

Director Ricky Choy with Miney Ye from "Never Too Late" (早馬). Ricky is a director and producer based in Hong Kong. She is known internationally including her directed film for Phoenix TV's documentary series "Hong Kong Nature Stories".

HKIFF49 will feature more than 300 screenings, including six world premieres, two international premieres, and 52 Asian premieres. Renowned international filmmakers such as Leos Carax, Albert Serra, Juho Kuosmanen, and Ando Sakura will join the festival to present their works and interact with audiences personally.

Lo Chun-yip at the fan greeting event in 18th Asian Film Awards

Hong Kong actor "Siuyea Lo Chun-yip", one of the youth ambassadors of 18th Asian Film Awards stuns in a total black coat at APM mall, one day before the Awards ceremony. Siuyea is known as a lead role in "Time Still Turns the Page" (年少日記) which also won two prizes in the 60th Golden Horse Awards in 2023.

Dayo Wong reunite Michael Hui in The Last Dance in Tokyo Film Festival 2024

Before release in Hong Kong theaters on 9th November 2024, "The Last Dance" (破．地獄) is scheduled to make its Japan premiere in the World Focus section at Tokyo International Film Festival 2024 which will be held between 28 October to 6 November 2024.

Bring us back to the hey day in Hong Kong, Dayo Wong starring together with Michael Hui again after 32 years since "The Magic Touch" in 1992.

Despite the pandemic sending most industries into recession, debt-ridden wedding planner Dominic (Dayo Wong) gets a miraculous chance to turn things around when a funeral planner retires and passes the baton to him. His creative gimmicks for funerals help his business find unexpected success, but Dominic's biggest obstacle is winning the approval of respected and sternly traditional Taoist priest, Master Man (Michael Hui).

Directed by Hong Kong- born Anselm Chan Mou Yin. He is a renowned screenwriter within the Hong Kong film and television industry, an up-and-coming director, and a member of the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild.

The lead actor Dayo Wong, Michael Hui and Michelle Wai will attend the Red Carpet and Japan Premiere screening in Tokyo International Film Festival.

ไฮไลท์เด่นของหนังเรื่องนี้ คือ การกลับมาพบกันของสองนักแสดงในตำนานชาวฮ่องกงอย่าง "ดาโย หว่อง" และ "ไมเคิลฮุย" ที่เคยร่วมงานกันครั้งสุดท้ายเมื่อ 32 ปีในเรื่อง The Magic Touch

แม้ว่าโควิดจะทำให้อุตสาหกรรมแขนงต่างๆ เข้าสู่ภาวะถดถอย  แต่ "โดมินิค" (แสดงโดย "ดาโย หว่อง") ผู้จัดงานแต่งงานที่มีหนี้สินล้นพ้นตัวสบโอกาสพลิกสถานการณ์ให้สิ่งร้ายๆ กลายเป็นดีได้อย่างไม่น่าเชื่อ เมื่อผู้วางแผนจัดงานศพเกษียณอายุและส่งต่องานให้เขา ด้วยเทคนิคการจัดงานศพของเขาทำให้ธุรกิจประสบความสำเร็จอย่างไม่คาดคิด แต่อุปสรรคใหญ่สุดของโดมินิค คือ ทำยังไงถึงจะทำให้อาจารย์ "หม่าน" (แสดงโดย "ไมเคิล ฮุย") นักบวชลัทธิเต๋าผู้ยึดมั่นในขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีโบราณอย่างเคร่งครัด ยอมรับตัวเขาให้ได้
